Prof Meoli Kashorda, Executive Director of Kenya Education Network (KENET),

Prof Meoli Kashorda is currently the Executive Director of Kenya Education Network (KENET), the National Research and Education of Kenya.  In the last 10 years, he has been leading an engineering team developing broadband Internet connectivity to Kenyan universities, research institutions and tertiary colleges.  He is also been leading the technical team that has been building community digital platform to support remote teaching, learning and research. Prof Kashorda is a professor of information systems at United States International University - Africa (USIU) in Kenya (on leave of absence). Since 2006, Prof Kashorda has been principal investigator for a research project measuring the E-readiness of Universities in Kenya and East Africa that includes measuring indicators of network learning and networked campuses (see https://ereadiness.kenet.or.ke/ ). He currently serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of Kenya Network Information Center (KENIC), the not-for-profit company that administers the dot ke domain names registry. He holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Nairobi and a PhD in Electronic Systems Engineering from University of Essex in England. He is a Member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET).
