Prof. Urbanus N. Mutwiwa

Prof. Urbanus N. Mutwiwa joined the CUE in August 2023 as the Director - Accreditation. He brings on board wealth of experience in leadership and quality gained both locally and internationally. Before joining CUE, he worked at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) having served as a Chairman and Dean as well as Deputy Management Representative Integrated Quality Management Systems, as well as external examiner to several universities. Previously he worked as a Senior Research Officer in the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kenya), where he gained proficiency in higher education, research and innovation policy matters. Before then he worked as a Research Associate at Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) and Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand). He has served in various boards including the Directorate for Academic Quality Assurance (JKUAT), the Water Resources and Research Centre (JKUAT), Kenya Institute of Supplies Examination Board (KISEB), Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) Education Committee, and the Committee of Non-Related persons in AfriCert Limited. He is a member of several professional bodies among them the National Quality institute, the Environmental Institute of Kenya; Engineers Board of Kenya, Horticultural Association of Kenya, Institute of Engineers of Kenya; German Alumni Water Network, and the German Alumni Food Network. He is a licensed lead expert EIA /EA and a Lead Auditor Quality Management Systems ISO 9001:2015 and Environment Management Systems ISO14001:2015. He has authored various research publications in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to scientific conferences both locally and internationally; as well as supervised both postgraduate and undergraduate students.
